The late Harry Bacon, MD, was one of the giants of the field of Colon and Rectal Surgery.  In honor of his memory, an annual memorial lectureship has been established by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.  Professor Maher A. Abbas delivered virtually the Harry Bacon, MD, 2021 memorial lectureship at the annual meeting which was attended by over 2000 people globally.  The title of the talk was “Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro: reflections from a surgeon’s journey.”
