Dr. Maher A. Abbas led Campaign_52 humanitarian mission to Kenya

April 13, 2024 | Eldoret, Kenya |

Dr. Maher A. Abbas led a multinational and multispecialty team to deliver charitable surgical care to women suffering from complex pelvic fistulas and conditions in Kenya.  Surgeons, physicians, and students from Thailand, United States of America, and United Arab Emirates joined hands with African colleagues to deliver surgical care to women from Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia.  Campaign_52 aimed to restore hope, dignity, and a better future to 52 women.  Due to its overwhelming success, Campaign_52 delivered care to 90 women in 1 week at the Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital.  Complex pelvic fistulas remain a challenging healthcare issue with significant negative impact on the quality of life of women who suffer from obstetrical trauma, sexual abuse, female genital mutilation, and cervical cancer.  Campaign_52 will return to Eldoret, Kenya in April 2025.
